Enjoying your time in Hawaii

You're going to Hawai'i...now what??

We know there's a lot of information on the internet and it can be a bit overwhelming for first time visitors.  PLEASE be sure to scroll all the way down to see the events and activities we have planned and how to sign up for them.

BEFORE you actually get to the island, you'll want to take some time to read this section!!  We have been working with Kualoa Ranch to secure a 20% discount off all of their tours and packages!!  Reservations for the tours sell out regularly so if you see something you want to do, you should hurry and book it using NAGVA as the promo code.  They have generously given us from December 1st - December 14th to book and take advantage of the discount.  Although our Secret Island Excursion (December 7th) is a part of Kualoa Ranch it is a separate function from any tours or packages you purchase.  HOWEVER, if you plan it right, you could do at least one tour on the same day that we arrive for our Excursion.  You ARE able to come and go off the island, pending the schedule of the catamaran that crosses the pond.  For more information on the tours and packages visit: https://www.kualoa.com/toursactivities/

If you have any questions about what to do, where to eat, or anything at all while in Hawaii, please reach out to Aunty D, Unko G, or Julian...send an email to info@pgvc.org and one of us will get back to you as soon as we are able.

December 6th

Meet 'n Greet with the locals, your team mates, and the directors...

Meet us at Bacchus Waikiki (408 Lewers Street @ Kuhio) from 9:00 pm til ?? for an informal "meet and greet".  It is located next door to one of our host hotels: Surfjack Hotel & Swim Club (412 Lewers Street).  The owners and bartenders there want to welcome those of us fortunate enough to fly in on Thursday.  Bring you, your team, new friends, and good vibes!!  This is a neighborhood bar where no one is a stranger.  Stop in and say hello to bartenders Andrew Mitchell and Bill Leeds and meet some members of Hawai'i Gay Flag Football League (HIGFFL) and Hawai'i Gay Kickball League.  It's also TEQUILA THURSDAYS so ALL shots of tequila are only $5...yup, even PATRON!!

Visit http://www.bacchus-waikiki.com/home/ for more information and to keep up with their events.

KARAOKE on the island??

For those of you who love karaoke, we suggest Wang Chung's Karaoke Bar!  Stop in and say hello to fellow NAGVA member and KJ/bartender, Jared F.  This bar is also a great place to get away from the hustle and bustle of Waikiki.  Whether it's a quick bite and a drink or just to listen to some amazing talent, you'll be glad you stopped in to Wang Chung's Karaoke Bar (2424 Koa Avenue, inside the Stay Hotel)

We also recommend the following sites to help plan an exciting and fun-filled vacation:

This site is kept updated and the blogs pretty much "Tells it like it is!".  We like that the writer crams a bunch of information without overwhelming by breaking it up in sections.  Her picks of "MUST SEE ATTRACTIONS" includes a lot of what we would have suggested ourselves.

December 7th

What better way to spend it than with lots of NAGVA players, on a chartered bus that takes us to a PRIVATE ISLAND with a secluded beach, catered lunch, complimentary drinks, and so much more...

Join us on December 7th for a SECRET ISLAND EXCURSION!  It's a full day of fun, relaxation, food and drinks...all you need to do is make sure you show up at the pick-up point, wear a bathing suit, bring a towel, and pack some extra clothes...oh, and if you have a significant other, you MIGHT want to bring them along for the fun!  We will be taking a chartered bus to the other side of the island where life is a little more laid-back and relaxed...it's also where dinosaurs have roamed, Chris Pratt has strolled, and Nicki Minaj celebrated her birthday...lol!

For more information and how to sign up, visit http://nagva808.weebly.com/our-events.html

Again...beach party, complimentary drinks, SUP, kayak, canoe, snorkel, Glass Bottom Boat Ride, and gay volleyball players?

Everything listed and more will be included with our excursion...there's also a catered lunch with refreshments, Beach Volleyball and Ping Pong challenges being made...you DO NOT want to miss out on our Secret Island Excursion!!

Information regarding this event will be posted soon

December 8th

But guess what??  As of NOW, we have the gym scheduled from 3:00 pm until 10:00 pm...YES, you are reading this correctly!  Which means the BEST PLACE for you to go today is the Aloha Stadium Swap Meet  http://www.alohastadiumswapmeet.net/content/home.aspx  This is the best place to buy souvenirs for your loved ones and gifts for those who deserve one!!  The best thing is...it's only a 25 minute drive from the playing facility and lots of great restaurants to choose from along the way.  See our "Eating in Hawaii" page.

This is also a good day to drive up to Nu'uanu Pali Lookout.  It is one of the most scenic spots on O'ahu and offers views of the Windward Coast of the island, including Kualoa Ranch.  For those with a bit more energy and need to exert some of it before pool play there are plenty of trails to hike with good views.  One in particular is the Makapu'u Lighthouse Trail.  Here you will be able to see the island of Moloka'i in the distance along with two smaller islands (the larger of the two known as Rabbit Island).  Because it is December, this side of the island offers a greater chance at spotting whales.  The tide pools here are of interest to lots of people and are accessible but a word of warning: do not go past the tide pools near the ocean!  The surf crashes hard here and will pull you out with it.  Be especially careful on windy days

After pool play, Bacchus Waikiki has offered to be our "host bar" for the evening. Drink specials will be available as well as food specials. We will NOT have a seeding party so this is the "unofficial official" Saturday evening event!!

December 9th

Play starts at 1:00 pm...be sure you find out your schedule in advance.

December 10th

After the tournament...

YES, you read that right.  AFTER the tournament, would be an amazing time to take advantage and plan a tour at Kualoa Ranch ( http://www.kualoa.com/ ).  It's open to all NAGVA members, friends, and family...be sure to reserve and book a few weeks out because the sell out regularly.  This 4000 Acre Ranch was the film site of Jurassic World, Godzilla, Skull Island, and Jurassic Park.  Secret Island Beach is also where Niki Minaj celebrated her birthday and has hosted celebrities such as Chris Pratt, Janet Jackson, Kevin Hart, and Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson to name a few.  **They offer a round trip transportation service from Waikiki for $15.  This option is DEFINITELY worth the price.**  Additional activities such as ATV, horseback, and various other tours and expeditions are available at an extra cost.  ALL activities, tours, and packages are available with a 20% discount using promo code: NAGVA.  Please check in with Aunty Dale (vicepresident@pgvc.org) if you have questions or concerns regarding this offer.

** Pick up from a selected hotel will be around 7am and drop off will be between 3:30-4:30.  THIS IS AN ALL DAY EVENT!!
